At the General Meeting of Works Councils in Berlin on November 20, the Chairman of the Central Works Council of Siemens AG, Lothar Adler, announced that he will leave the company at the end of May 2014, upon reaching mandatory retirement age.

His term of office as a member of the Supervisory Board will end on the same date. Adler is thus no longer willing to extend his employment contract, as he had contemplated earlier.

Joe Kaeser, CEO of Siemens, thanked Adler for his many years of passionate dedication working for employees and jobs at Siemens. He said that Adler has been a convinced and convincing advocate for the interests of the company s employees and a very responsible Chairman of the Central Works Council. "I have great respect for his life s work," Joe Kaeser said.

Berthold Huber, First Chairman of IG Metall and First Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens AG, said: "Lothar Adler is an exemplary, straightforward and courageous Chairman and member of the IG Metall trade union. He deserves a great deal of respect from all of us for successfully working for the interests of employees."
