Samarium Oxide

Description

White with light yellow powder, insoluble in water and alkali solution, soluble in inorganic acid to form the corresponding salt. It absorbs CO₂ and water from the air to form basic carbonates. Store in ventilated and dry place, pay attention to moisture.

Application Area

1. Mainly used for making metallic samarium, samarium cobalt permanent magnetic materials, electronic devices and ceramic capacitors, etc. It can be used as glass additive for infrared absorption, paint for photosensitive materials, cobalt permanent magnetic material for making samarium, and raw materials for making metallic samarium.

2. Used in electronic devices, it can be used as additive for infrared absorption and luminescence glass to prepare samarium cobalt permanent magnetic materials and raw materials for production of metallic samarium. Samarium oxide is also a catalyst in the chemical industry.

3. Samarium cobalt permanent magnetic material is also an excellent nuclear reactor control material. It can also be used to prepare piezoelectric ceramics and thermistor ceramics.
